To Vote in Central By-Elections - why?
After 5pm today, Central students will have the chance to elect a new Central SU Vice President Postgrad. This role is also a key representative for the student body and, working with other Student Leaders, Vice President Postgrad shape and inform the Union's democratic structure and its priorities. Candidates will outline their key aims and ideas in their manifestos over the campaigning period. By voting in the elections, each of you continue to contribute to deciding what Central SU priorities are for the next 12 months.
Here are three key reasons why your vote will matter in this by- elections...
1. Central SU Vice President Postgrad are to promote the interests and welfare of all students at Central during their course of study and representing, supporting and advising Students; To provide social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development of the union; Central SU officers will be there to protect the rights of the students and campaign for and on behalf of the best interests for you.
Whether it’s getting better student feedback, defending central students current matters and issues, getting significantly more support for welfare or health services, or campaigning for change. Vice President Postgrad, guided by you, can make huge changes to the school life, here at Central. By voting, YOU get to influence what that change will be.
2. Vice President Postgrad is also part of the SU team that run the SU day-to-day
Central Officers have responsibility for all the everyday activities of the SU and Vice President Postgrad is part of that. If you want to contribute to making our services, our businesses, our support, and our environment even better, the SU team, with your support, will be able to make that change happen.
3. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
Voting is all done online (a link to vote will be sent to your student inbox - please check your junk email also) at the click of a button, and it’s really easy to see people’s Manifestos and ideas as you vote. As we use the Transferable Vote System, which essentially asks the voter to rank the candidates in the order of preference, your vote won’t be wasted and will be transferred to your next-preferred choice.
