Throwback: LGBTakeover

November 24, 2017

As a welcome and a hello from us, your Gender and Sexuality officers for 2017-18, we decided to bring to you an incredibly exciting cabaret night in Camden. Showcasing the talent of our LGBTQ+ students here at Central.

LGBTakeover kicked off on the 6th December in the ever so fabulous Her Upstairs, igniting a year packed full of celebrating the LGBTQ+ community here at Central and beyond. The night was cram-packed with a variety of acts including, Drag Performers, Stand-Up Comedy and live Singing!

We would like to give thanks to those performers who were amazing and made the night what it turned out to be… CAMP AND FAB! We had an incredible time with Lady Aria Grey, Mimi Martini, Jacob Seelochan & Abigail Weinstock.

Alongside our fabulous performers we had our very talented Host, Devine Tension. Bringing the extra factor with her lip syncs and infectious personality. Devine lit the room up from the moment she hit the mic.

Celebrating the LGBTQ+ community is very important to us, and should be for the rest of the community. LGBTakeover shuts out all of the judgement from society and allows for those who identify with the LGBTQ+ community, and our allies, to have a good time with a glass of wine in our hand and talented performers to entertain!

The night celebrated the talent of our beautiful community, however, was also a night to raise money for World AIDs Day (which is on the 1st December so be on the lookout for information about our upcoming plans). The money we took as entry has all gone towards World AIDs Day, raising over £100 for the day.

World AIDs Day is a charity campaign for all to come together a fight HIV. The money we have raised will be helping to research HIV and AIDs more and more resulting in many more ways of preventing the transmission of the infection/disease. World AIDs Day is a very important day for all to engage with, however, it should never only be for the one day! (Again, more to come for that)

Look at their website for more information on how you can help:
